Bayahibe, Dominican Republic
Twin of Stella Maris: same spot, same terrace with a Jacuzzi.
La Romana airport is a fifteen-minute drive away and the transfer costs €15 each way. If you land at Punta Cana the journey is longer and costs €70 each way, again for the car and not per person. We arrange it, and Carmelo is there when you arrive, with a porter for the luggage.
You'll find the drinking water dispenser in the apartment: no need to buy any, and tap water isn't for drinking.
The currency is the Dominican peso. Electricity isn't included: the meter is read on arrival and departure, on average 30–40 USD a week.
Trails, excursions, beaches and the places where we eat ourselves.
Before you leave
Going to the other side of the world is not the same as a week in the mountains: there is a flight to find, documents to prepare, someone to be waiting for you when you land. We take care of all of it, and asking costs nothing.
If you ask us we look for it, and it costs you nothing: tell us when you would like to travel and from where, and we find the best combination — airport, stopovers, the days that cost less. We don’t sell the ticket: you buy it yourself, but already knowing which one to take.
We do the entry paperwork ourselves: you send us the passport details and we fill the forms in for you, before you leave. You don’t have to understand any of it, and you won’t turn up at the check-in desk missing something.
We look for this one too if you ask us, and this one is free as well: we tell you which policy suits the kind of trip you are making, and where to get it. We don’t sell it: you take it out yourself, with the company you choose.
La Romana airport is fifteen minutes away and the transfer costs €15 each way; from Punta Cana it is €70. That is the price of the journey, not per person, and “each way” means one way only: the ride back costs the same. When you land there is someone waiting for you, with a porter for the suitcases. Every so often we run it as an offer.
Our man in Bayahibe. He writes to you before you leave, he welcomes you, and he is there for the whole holiday: if you need something you call him, not a helpline.
Saona, Catalina, the diving, a car or a scooter to get around: we book them with the local people we know. You just say what you feel like doing.
We know where to eat well in Bayahibe, and we book the table ourselves — starting with the first evening, which is the evening you don’t feel like looking for anything.
If you like, you will find the fridge full when you arrive. Send us the list and we take care of it, so you don’t have to go looking for a supermarket on your first evening.
Before you leave we tell you how to do it: whether your own operator is enough or a local SIM is worth it, and where to get one as soon as you land. In the apartment there is Wi-Fi, and it is included.
If you are celebrating something, tell us: we get the house ready before you arrive.
Looking for your flight and your insurance costs you nothing: it is something we do, you just have to ask. The things that get booked — the transfer, the excursions, the rentals, the shopping — cost what they cost locally, and we tell you the price beforehand, no surprises. There is no form to fill in: you write to us and we organise it together, before or after you book.
